Bought this steamer after searching for a good one. All the better steamers were electric and therefore will, eventually wear out. And the good ones aren't cheap. I am replacing an old electric steamer that went bad and with this new steamer, I've found the perfect one! No electronics to go bad or replace, no batteries to replace, just simply steam. I don't steam white rice but only brown because of the nutritional value. Following the water ratio recommendation from the included cookbook, the added water level was way, way too low for brown rice. So I went back to my recipe I used with my old steamer and added twice as much water (or chicken broth) to the rice inside the steamer, as there was uncooked rice. I also let it steam longer than what was in the included cook book. I steamed the brown rice for one full hour, took it out of my covered stock pot and it was absolutely perfect.
